What is Meditation

What is Meditation?

People often ask the question what is meditation because they hear the term a lot but don’t know what it means. Meditation is the Art of silencing the mind. When the mind is silent, concentration is increased and we experience inner peace. Meditation is about consciousness. The beliefs of the mind become trivial and we dive deep into the heart of our being to gain access to our soul- our inner reality therefore; meditation can (and is) practiced by people of different religions or no religions.

Why should you meditate?

There are many motivations for meditating for some it’s to lower one’s blood pressure, for others to reduce stress, some want to gain knowledge, others wish to use it to give up compulsive actions…and the list goes on.  A lot of creative people like artists and designers use meditation to tap into their soul and find inspiration. They meditate until their mind relaxes and spontaneously releases its contents. The Mind is the instrument of silence. It is the source that creates thoughts, feelings images, concepts and beliefs, and then projects all of that on the screen of silence. The projection is what we think we are, and how we see the world. We must awaken the real self inside through meditation and by pass our human brain and our mortal understanding. This of course takes time and practices and in the beginning you will you will sit down and think about a thousand things and won’t be able to subdue your passions. However, meditation like fitness and Yoga should be woven into your lifestyle and if you do it everyday, for weeks, months and years. You will eventually be able to silence your mind and connect deeply with yourself in a way words cannot describe.
