Hachiko, 3 Lessons from the Worlds most Loyal Dog

Hachiko, The Story of a Loyal Dog

Hachiko is the worlds most loyal dog. I know you can tell that I like dogs because Tret the Parkour dog is amazing but to be honest he has nothing on Hachiko. Hachiko was a Japanese dog of the Akita breed and was noble in both appearance and character. Hachiko had humble beginnings and was born on a farm in Japan in 1923 and grew famous for his stoic loyalty to his owner even after his death.

Hidesaburō Ueno was a Professor and Hachiko’s owner and after work he would be greeted by his faithful dog at around Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily ritual like a Honey Bee’s daily meeting with it’s favorite flower until 1925 when Ueno did not show up at the station. Sadly Hidesaburō Ueno died that day but loyal Hachiko still went to Shibuya Station every day for the next nine years hoping to meet his friend.

The nine years that followed were not all sunshine and rainbows for Hachiko because many people thought he was a stray dog and they would chase him and kick him. However, despite the abuse he always showed up at the time Ueno’s train was supposed to arrive at the station and then return back to his home. The sentiment changed towards him once an article was written in the paper about the tale of his faithfulness. Then passengers would bring him food and one of Ueno’s students follow the loyal dog home and wrote about him in a book. Hachiko fame grew quickly and soon he was a symbol of Japan’s pride and loyalty.

Hachiko died in 1935 and was stuffed and put in the museum for all to see and he will always be remember for his loyalty because there is also aBronze statue of him waiting in Shibuya Station.

3 Lessons in Loyalty from the Worlds most Faithful Dog

1. Inspiration to be Loyal
There is nothing like unwavering loyalty to a cause or to another person. Loyalty on this level is legendary, transcends time and changes the world. I aspire for this kind of loyalty everyday and this story helps inspire me to keep staying loyal to my beliefs, friends, family, spreading love and the idea that will change the world for the better a little everyday. Use this story to help you stay firm in your beliefs as well.

2. Loyalty is Not Easy
Loyalty is not easy but that is why it is so important. It takes a lot of will power and  I’ve been unloyal to many people and many things but the more I try and work on my being loyal the more it becomes easy to be loyal across the board. Even if you have messed up in the past, today you can decide to be loyal to something and stay faithful to it until death.

3. Loyalty is Rewarding
Loyalty is very rewarding. You might not get rich, famous and have a statue be built in your honor. But the reward will be more than satisfying if you stay true to yourself and don’t fold under the pressure of others. Steve Jobs was loyal to his believe in self and his belief that he would create a computer better than any in the world.
